This one of the 10 or so awls I found in the 4 pits i dig in the last couple years. These pits are so called trash pits that they put floor sweep in from the floor of there earth lodges ,and they also put there ashes from fire pits in there in a uniform layers. i have found bone bead that were on a strand at one time long ago that .that were in a bunch in one area.Found many small to med. size arrowheads, nice large pieces of broken pots of all different shapes with all kinds of neat designs on them not by paint but by tool when the pot was wet.Have found knifes of many shapes and size . Like I said will out pics. on as soon as I get the uploading figured out.Well back to the pits when near the bottom i have had my daughter, her boyfriend, and I in there with room to spare .Hard to beleave that these pits were dug by hand by the women of the tribe.I did go to the site on Sunday but not muc to show though did find some nice bone pieces with lots of butchering marks on them and did also find most of a squash knife made from the shoulder of a buffalo .with lots of use and nice polish on it.well gotta go H.A.G.D. ///

The Site

This site is a village that was dated aprox. 600 to 3000 yrs. old it covers aprox. 1 square mile with this view at the north edge .There are scattered lodge sites like the one shown(aprox. 10 on this hill top)The village was the shape of a wagon wheel with the spokes being the paths to other villages so in time of warfare there was quick retreat to the main village in the center. This is where my story will be for now .Being severial yrs. of digging and surface hunting. There are also other locations i look which ill inform when there and pictures.Ill also load hundreds of artifacts found at this site and others .thats all for now .Keep the wind in your face and your powder dry.
